        Dear Brothers and Sisters, His Holiness Pope Benedict the XVI has given the Catholic world an enormous gift in declaring a Year of Faith beginning October 11. This date coincides with both the 50th anniversary of the calling of the Second Vatican Council and the 20th anniversary of the publication of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. My fervent hope is that our celebration of the Year of Faith will unite us with Catholics on every continent in proclaiming Christ “in whom we have believed.” (2 Timothy 1:12)

        The ACTS retreat weekend is presented by lay Catholics who are fellow parishioners of St. Bernard’s, with the support of Msgr. Gaalaas. The goals for the weekend are to provide opportunities for the retreatants to strengthen their faith, experience spiritual renewal, deepen their prayer life and to build strong, lasting friendships within the St. Bernard community. The guides for the retreats are the Holy Scripture (read Acts 2:42-47), and the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.

        Stephen Ray, nationally recognized Catholic apologist, speaker and author, is hosted by the St. Bernard women's group. There is no fee but we are asking for a canned food item for Catholic Charities. The talk begins at 7:00pm on 8/17 and at 9:45am on 8/18.
